Multi-Hazard Round Table: A Non-Traditional Approach to Disaster Planning
Since 9-11 much attention has been directed towards terrorism, and the approach has often been formal and prescriptive. As witnessed by the Hurricane Katrina response this approach, although absorbing extensive resources, leaves much room for improvement. Possibly, a much less formal approach is needed: One that builds on all hazards, expands networks, accommodates multiple agenda and drives discussion.
Toward this end, this series of round table discussions is meant to be a non-traditional approach to disaster planning that will engage scientists, as well as public and private sector emergency managers, in topics addressing how world situations can contribute to disasters. These topics range from atmospheric changes to demographic shifts that may need to be taken into consideration when managing risks. CREW is proud to be one of the sponsors of these discussions. We hope you will join us at an upcoming event!
